A trip to Sarikei
On 31st May 2008, my family and I went to Sarikei for 3 days 2 nights. My aunties and uncles also went back. Not forget that my grandma also went back. She wanted to see how was the condition at her house.
Early in the morning, I woke up early to prepare myself for the trip. I was so excited about it. We drove up to Sarikei. It took us 5 hours to reach Sarikei. We started our journey at 7.30am and arrived at 12.30pm. We took our lunch at Jakar. We were so hungry and tired. We had a good lunch.
After lunch, we proceed our journey to my grandma’s house. Besides that, we all need to clean up the house. It just like family “gotong-royong”. The house was full of dust and dirt. We had to sweep, mop and etc. If not, we had no place to sleep for the rest of the nights there. Haha. After cleaning, we were all exhausted.
My uncle from Miri needed to wait for my grandma to arrive at Sibu airport than they will proceed their way to Sarikei. They arrived in the afternoon at 4.30pm.
At night, we had family feast. Know what? We celebrated “Hari Gawai” although we are not native but Chinese. Wahaha. There were lots of delicious foods like roast pork, roast chicken, “Zhong Zhi” (Chinese dumplings) and etc. Yummmmyyy!!! We had a great dinner. We only short of “tuak”. Tuak is a type of wine. We all enjoyed the dinner. Oh ya, those who doesn’t know what is “Hari Gawai”. Hari Gawai is a native new year celebration. Hahaha. In Sarawak only celebrate “Hari Gawai”.
My grandma was so happy when she was back because she will bring back all her old days of memory that she had been through long time ago. I managed to talk to her as she was talking about the old times because it had been a long time I haven’t seen her. She must be very happy because her grand-daughters can “teman” her. Hehe.
On the 1st of June 2008, we drove back to Kuching in the late afternoon. We arrived Kuching at night.
Anyway, It was a wonderful and relaxing trip. I enjoyed the trip.
